Recapping a Successful Week of Discovery Plot Days

Our five Discovery Plot Days have come and gone, and what a week of discovery, info sharing, and plot touring it was.

“There were many new products in the plots this year,” said Federated agronomy sales manager Kevin Carlson. “So this year’s sessions were especially informative. Discovery plots are vital in evaluating hybrids for things like drought tolerance in light and heavy soils, which has been particularly relevant in 2026.”

• In the ever-fluctuating world of fertilizer markets, potash has emerged as good value for fall applications. Federated director of agronomy Scott Nelson reminded people that fall is a great time to apply and urged growers to fertilize their hay fields.
• Diesel remains highly priced because it’s in very high demand. Federated director of energy Mark Grave recommends filling your tanks now despite the high prices, because with supply and demand being where it is, we could have issues with supply during harvest.
